Dr. Türker Karabuğa

Dr. Türker Karabuğa was born in 1975 in Isparta Eğirdir. From 1991 to 1994 he studied Mining Engineering at Akdeniz University. In 2000 he completed his medical degree at the Faculty of Medicine of Süleyman Demirel University.

From 2000 to 2002 he worked as a general practitioner at Tokat Reşadiye State Hospital. From 2002 to 2004 he served as a general practitioner at the İslamköy Health Centre in Isparta. In 2003 he completed his military service as a medical officer at the Artvin Hopa border unit.

In 2004 he began his specialisation training at the 3rd General Surgery Clinic of Izmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital, completing it in 2010 with his dissertation "Effects of a Simple and Economical Laparoscopic Training Box Model on the Learning Curve of Surgical Assistants".

After completing his mandatory state service at Konya Bozkır State Hospital (2011–2012), he worked at Izmir Medicalpark Hospital and as an assistant professor in the Department of General Surgery at Izmir University from 2012 to 2014. From June 2014 to April 2016 he worked at Özel Karataş Hastanesi in Izmir. Since 2016 he has been working at Bazekol Sada Hastanesi.

Dr. Türker Karabuğa has had a special interest in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery since his residency years. He holds a total of 7 patents for use in obesity treatment and for increasing the safety of sleeve gastrectomy.

He has numerous publications in national and international journals and many congress presentations. He has participated in many obesity congresses and courses and has received prizes and awards at several competitions.
