Revision Surgery is a procedure performed after a previous bariatric operation when the desired result was not achieved or complications occurred.
When is Revision Surgery Necessary?
- Insufficient weight loss after the first operation
- Weight regain after a successful first operation
- Complications such as reflux, bloating or gastric ulcer
- Technical failure (e.g. band displacement with gastric band)
- Nutritional deficiency despite correct supplement intake
Possible Revision Procedures
- Sleeve to Gastric Bypass: For reflux or insufficient weight loss after sleeve gastrectomy
- Gastric Band Removal: With or without conversion to another procedure
- Pouch Reduction: For enlarged gastric pouch after bypass
- Re-Sleeve: Repeat sleeve gastrectomy for gastric dilation
