Revision Surgery is a procedure performed after a previous bariatric operation when the desired result was not achieved or complications occurred.

When is Revision Surgery Necessary?

  • Insufficient weight loss after the first operation
  • Weight regain after a successful first operation
  • Complications such as reflux, bloating or gastric ulcer
  • Technical failure (e.g. band displacement with gastric band)
  • Nutritional deficiency despite correct supplement intake

Possible Revision Procedures

  • Sleeve to Gastric Bypass: For reflux or insufficient weight loss after sleeve gastrectomy
  • Gastric Band Removal: With or without conversion to another procedure
  • Pouch Reduction: For enlarged gastric pouch after bypass
  • Re-Sleeve: Repeat sleeve gastrectomy for gastric dilation
